TSP installment payment calculator
- Installment Payment Information
- Installment Payment Estimate
If you are currently receiving installment payments and want to choose a different amount, use this calculator to estimate how many payments you will receive and how long they will last.
To project payments from life annuity options, use the TSP Payment and Annuity Calculator.
You need a vested account balance of at least $200 to receive TSP installment payments.
You must receive at least $25 per payment.
Indicate a rate of return (i.e., 5.25%) if you would like your calculation based on an assumed annual earnings rate (e.g., the rate you expect your TSP account to grow). Otherwise, your calculation will not include projected earnings. You can view the Rates of return page for more information, but remember that past performance is not a guarantee or a predictor of future returns.
A summary of your results is shown below.
Keep in mind that installment payments for a specific dollar amount are paid until you stop or change your payments or your account balance reaches zero.
Note: Payments may be made for a longer or shorter period of time than expected, depending on the gains and losses in the value of your account while you are receiving installment payments. If you are subject to the IRS Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) rules and your installment payments do not satisfy your RMD, a supplemental payment will be made to you.
